Aryn Rehw-Zoszo
"The truth is usually just an excuse for a lack of imagination."
~ Elim Garak
*
Aryn is a creature of gaudy elegance and mischief. Superficially pleasant, polite, and indulgent, this is a layer of gold paint covering his avaricious and deceitful nature. He enjoys theatricality for its own sake, and rarely achieves a goal in a straightforward way when it could be accomplished through some roundabout manipulation instead.
This should not be mistaken for malice, however - he doesn't enjoy cruelty, he just likes to trip people up, and shake their preconceptions a little. And maybe fleece them at the same time; after all, his huge collection of bracelets and charms wasn't free.
Unfortunately he is perpetually broke, and thus always on the lookout for the next score. He balks at open violence, ostensibly because he is a "man of peace" but genuinely because he prefers not to get his hands dirty.

In Brief:
Origin: Jungles of Golmore
Age: Unknown, appears 20s
Gender: Male, he/him
Build: Willowy, lean, lithe
Job: Fortuneteller, alchemist
Education: Radz-at-Han
Residence: Itinerant
Interests: Money, treasure, fortunetelling, Dalamud
Aryn is somewhere above average height for a Viera, long-limbed and lithe, with the dextrous movements of a performer. He is usually dressed extravagantly - fine robes embroidered with gold, hung with shimmering chains and baubles, his arms heavy with a collection of bracelets and charms he must have emptied a flea market to obtain. A close look, however, reveals the gold is polished brass or painted wood, and everything is chosen more for dramatic flair than genuine value. All the panoply of wealth, with none of the actual money.

Talents
Aryn is a trained astrologer and alchemist, capable of genuine healing and astral divination. While he can brew medicines, that's almost an accidental byproduct of his talent for making poisons and toxins, especially narcotics. He's also an expert at sleight-of-hand, which he mostly uses to amuse people with little coin and card tricks, although he's not above pickpocketing someone who deserves it.
Echo's Gift: Foresight
Through the Echo, Aryn is genuinely able to see flashes of the future. It's uncontrollable, and it has nothing to do with cards or tea-leaves - the tarot reading is purely a grift. It tends to be a violently unpleasant experience for him, and embarassing besides. He cannot deliberately fish for visions, save flashes a split-second ahead of the present. If you wish to have Aryn foresee something for your character, send me a /tell and we can slap him with a vision.
Toxic
Every part of Aryn is toxic in some way - skin, hair, sweat, all of it bears some kind of poison or another. Only his blood has the potential to be fatal, but the rest can still induce all sorts of unpleasant states.
OOC notes
Post style: I will usually mirror the local zeitgeist, but left to my own devices I'll tend to go 2-4 sentences and let the chat buffer tell me when it's time to stop typing.
Availability: My RP time is pretty restricted, so if you don't want to risk me having to suddenly bail out of a long scene, feel free to try and schedule something.
Favourites: I honestly love discovering characters' backgrounds. Yes, Aryn wants to know how you got that weird scar, and how kids treated you in school - he wants it all, please keep talking.
Mature RP: I'm happy to play in scenes with mature elements - misery, gore, sex, affectionate hand-holding, whatever you degenerates are into these days - so don't hold back on my account. That said, I don't have the time or the energy to play out a proper relationship, so while Aryn can be a flirt sometimes, don't expect more than the occasional wink or bawdy comment from him.
Criminality: Aryn is a thief, a liar, a manipulator, a con man and a grifter. That all tends to be directed at NPCs however and he's not going to steal from PCs unless we're all very sure it would be funny.
Hooks
Healing: Aryn's public identity is as a healer and he is available for hire. Generally speaking, if you want him to show up, offering to pay him is the shortest route. (Unreal gil only, course, not actual game currency.)
Fortunetelling: It doesn't take long for him to set up a booth somewhere and start offering card-reading or rune-casting divinations, or to sell various tinctures and charms. Some of the magic is real and some is placebo and it's a struggle to tell them apart.
Crime: Some of the substances Aryn knows how to concoct are tremendously illegal, and he'll be happy to make them for you - for a price, and if he can trust you aren't a narc. Those with criminal connections through Radz-at-Han are more likely to know him.
